Market report

Used Maserati market splits in two as MC20 lingers and GranTurismo moves

Twenty-one of the 71 Maseratis listed rate as great or good deals, and the cheapest car in the brand asks $22,500.

2023 Maserati MC20

Used Maserati buyers are shopping two different markets. The MC20 supercar has a median asking price of $192,000 and takes a typical 95 days to leave the market, while the GranTurismo asks a median $38,400 and typically leaves the market in 62 days, in listings we tracked through Oct. 1.

The brand-wide figures hide the split. Of the 71 used Maseratis for sale, 44 are MC20s and 27 are GranTurismos, so the $181,000 brand median mostly tracks the MC20.

The MC20 is the slow one

Maserati's mid-engine MC20 is the cooler market of the two. Our market temperature reading is cool, and at the recent pace of cars leaving the market, the 44 for sale would last 5.2 months. About 32% have had a price cut in the last 90 days.

Model year moves the price. A 2022 MC20 is typically listed at about 69% of a 2023's price, same trim and miles.

Two 2023 cars among the MC20s for sale are examples. A white one with 16,126 miles in Houston, Texas, asks $169,900, about $17,000 under its fair value, and has been listed 50 days. A Giallo Genio Matte one with 1,678 miles in Naperville, Illinois, asks $191,710, about $16,500 under fair value. It is the only one for sale in that color, and it has been listed 301 days with three price cuts.

The used GranTurismo is cheaper and quicker

All 27 GranTurismos for sale are the MC trim, and the market is balanced. Supply would last 2.7 months at the recent pace, against 5.2 for the MC20. Even so, 30% have had a price cut in the last 90 days, close to the MC20's 32%.

Older cars step down in price by year. Against a 2018, a 2017 is typically listed at about 84% of the price and a 2012 at about 66%, same trim and miles. The cheapest GranTurismos start at $22,500, the lowest asking price of any Maserati we track.

A blue 2017 GranTurismo MC with 25,027 miles in Randolph, Massachusetts, asks $31,995, about $17,000 under fair value, and has been listed 30 days. A black 2014 with 23,920 miles in Roselle, Illinois, asks $22,995, about $14,500 under fair value, after two price cuts, the last on Oct. 1. It has been listed 91 days.

Where a buyer has room to bargain

By our count, 21 of the 71 cars rate as great or good deals: four great and seven good among the MC20s, four great and six good among the GranTurismos. Maserati deals lists those cars with their ratings.

Check any asking price against what a Maserati typically costs before you make an offer. At 91 days listed with two cuts, the 2014 GranTurismo in Roselle is worth a lower offer.

The Naperville MC20 is the stronger case. At 301 days listed and three cuts, it is the car where an offer below asking looks most reasonable.
